Colour Tag
Tagged by lenglui velverse, here is my list of six similar colour but of different theme. I chose the colour of love that i find in my humble den…
hope you will enjoy this post as much as i, in doing it.
laundry… one of the chores that take up a lot of our time at home. the myriad of colour of the hanging shirts represent the different chores that we take pride in doing around our home. we sweat through these chores but we are not complaining…. cos it is a toil of love.

mummy’s world is always grey. she is illiterate and her only connection to the external world is the tv in her room. but her love for me and my late father is never short of colourful. although pushing 90, and ravaged by the wear and tear of time, she never lose her zeal for life. she still think of visiting my brother in hk and has no qualm doing air travel, and assist in bringing up our kid.

this quilt is mummy’s current handiwork. all the years of hard work had not blunt her dexterity with needle work. I had one of these quilts all through my years in univ when i was away from home. It is my only comfort against homesickness in a foreign land.

books are my constant companion through the thick and thin of life. i only keep the diy self-help and management books at home. for others like novel and fiction, will borrow from the national library. library@orchard is my favourite outlet and my only oasis when wife goes shopping at takashimaya.
had been keeping fish since i was young and this tank of tetras, guppies, glass fish and cat fish had been with me for 4 years. this aquarium is my weekend therapy when i do the water changing and rearrangement of the tank waterscape. i also keep some prawns in the tank as my assistant in cleaning up those hard to reach corners

we huff & puff trying… calling for our son…. cleaning up the house…. creating a condusive environment etc. now all we are waiting for is the emergence of a champion sperm!
Surprise from Shanghai
Got a unexpected Yahoo Messenger message from a female friend, Winnie from Shanghai today. We got to know each other online through Yahoo a few years back and used to hang out together during my stint there. She was an out of towner Chinese from Hubei working then as the marketing manager of Parker Pen.
Winnie spoke with an American accent, loved classical opera and could carry a tune well. She was always fun to be with, with her bubbly personality and love for the arts. She loved Italian opera so much she actually went to learn Italian and could carry a few lines in Italian. She was and still the only friend that i know so far that could carry a Whitney Houston tune.
We had a lot of fun catching touring performances like Cats, Madame Butterfly and Les Mis, singing kara and simply yakking away. I like her view that the world was like an oyster waiting for her to exploit. Knowing how difficult for Chinese to leave China during that time, she was gutsy and not afraid of setting high goals in her life.
Her English and Italian was self taught and i was always amazed by her great capacity for learning. This is one lady who knew what she wanted in life and i was sure her ambition was matched by her talent and positive attitude of life. She single handedly had smashed away my stereotype of Chinese piao meis.
Although we spent a lot of time together and could connect well, romance was never in the air. I don’t know why but for the lack of a better word, she was more a “kaki” (buddy) than a prospective mate to me. I had not heard from her after i left China until this message arrived in my YM…
Winnie: Hei, How are you? Still looking for a life partner?
Seefei: Nope, i am married now. Why do you asked?
Winnie: How come you profile is still on in MSN match maker list?
Seefei: ……….. *don’t know what to say*
Welcome Mr Bush!
You can never estimate the power of pop culture in your life until it stokes the fear in you. My family is going to live through this Friday night in fear because simple American kampung mate, Mr Bush is visiting and asking me out for dinner. I vowed I won’t watch American political movie after this and here is the reason why.
Have you watched the movie, Syriana? We are worried that someone will take out Mr Bush with a copy cat tactical strike from a patriot missile launchs from the stratosphere. What if the missile carry a nuclear warhead? How scary, imagining your life evaporates just like that for the mere fact that you are stuck on a little island with the most powerful man on earth?
Superman, where are you when we need you?
Beside that, half of little dot is cordoned off to provide a security buffer zone for Mr Bush and his entourage. That leaves only the Night Safari, Bird Park and the trans park in Changi Beach in the outskirt accessible to local indigenous like me. Unless you are a great fan of National Geographic, Animal Planet and have a non-mainstream sexual inclination, there is really not many places you can hang out this Friday.
But don’t get me wrong. I hold no grudges against Mr Bush for all this inconvenience. On the contrary, I like this man, for the fact that both Bush and burung pipit have a lot in common. For example, we have simplistic view of the world. I, “don’t forget to feed the dog and the world will be a better place” and Bush, “take out Saddam and we will have world peace”. The only difference is I don’t have to survive election every four year to validate my point of view.
Mr Bush, try our signature dish chilli crab at East Coast, satay at Lau Pa Sat or visit our newly renovated museum at Bras Basah. Whatever it is, have fun and it is a pleasant experience talking to you. But next time when you wanna drop by, please let us know in advance so we can book our long overdue trip to Bali.
By the way, if you happen to drop by Texas en-route to Washington, can you send my regards to my blogdy, SA?
Did you see the dog?
the coming, originally uploaded by -Teddy.
In case my esteemed readers have not noticed, I have taken a two week hiatus by running the caption competition. Please be assured my interest in blogging had not waned and neither I had taken my ER for a ride with that trivia.
I had fully utilized the “free” time during the last two weeks to ponder the following important things…
- who killed the Mongolian model?
- can the world afford a total US pull-out in
Iraq? - the implication of the increase in GST tax (to 7%) to my little rice bowl
- why the latest canon dSLR camera 400D got no spot metering?
- doing “colour” meme from velverse
- the meaning of life
As this blog is rated G (General), i would not touch on politic, religion and race and that will leave only item (4) to (6) to be answered. In this post, i will try to answer the toughest one first…. The meaning of life…
I don’t know about my other fellow human beings but the meaning of life is pretty clear to me. My universe is very simple and consists of only myself and a dog. There is only a single and primary purpose to my existence and it is to feed the dog. The dog will bite me if it ever goes hungry. Ok, maybe there is a secondary reason, ie to avoid being bitten by the dog.
I will toil day and night to find food for that nasty little dog. The drudgery of hunting and scavenging for dog food is more than offset by the pleasure of not being bitten by the dog. If the dog is happy, I am happy.
If I die, the dog dies too. But if the dog dies, probably I will look for another dog to fill the vacuum in my little universe unless the dog has offspring that can continue this relationship. I know some of us seek solace from this dog-gone life by having a relationship with a higher being with the hope that there are some payback in the next universe where supposedly dogs don’t exist. Some enlightened one will see the dog and look for a harmonius path of co-existent in the hope that they will be the dog in their next life.
Well, my esteemed readers, that’s the meaning of life to me. You can disagree with me but don’t prosecute me for my belief. Lets hear everyone’s view and may i leave you with this question?
Do you see the DOG in your life?

Life Partner
on the top, originally uploaded by *helmen.
I answered a lot of “What do you want?” questions when i told my close friends that i was looking for a wife sometime back. My answer, most often than not, would be, “Long hair & not intimidating”.
A visual of that description would be like the gal in the pic above!
My feeling then was if i could describe what i wanted in a more specific manner, my list would be so short, only my mother would qualify!
Well, if you ask me now the same question, i would tell you, “Someone like my wife would be fine”.
I am sure you would like to ask me whether she look anything like the pic above, right?

No gold here!
November 30, 2006 at 11:15 p11 (News & Comments)
Have you heard the chinese fable of the village idiot who found a buried treasure chest in a deserted piece of land? The treasure chest was too big for him to carry alone, so the idiot decided to go and get some help.
To prevent others from finding the treasure, he came out with this smart idea. He put up a sign on the very spot where the treasure was located warning everyone…
”There is no treasure here, go look for it somewhere else!”
Now we have the malaysian version of this story or is it just me that is reading too much between the lines?
You read and draw your own conclusion!
Straight Times 30 Nov 2006 headlines
“Johor & Petronas deny report of oil discovery”
but a few days earlier…..
lifted from malaysia Bernama news agency…
By Mohd Haikal IsaJOHOR BAHARU, Nov 28 (Bernama) — National oil company Petronas is believed to have made its first discovery of oil and gas reserves in the waters of Johor.According to reliable sources, Petronas made the discovery of the two fuel resources in a coastal area east of Johor. The sources said that Petronas recently had a briefing with Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman on the findings.Abdul Ghani made an unofficial announcement of the findings during a Hari Raya gathering last week, organised by Umno (Pengerang Division), the sources said.“The area (where the oil and gas were found) is believed to be more than 1,000 hectares. According to research, the oil and gas reserves from the area were of “significant amount,” the sources told Bernama here Tuesday.According to the sources, the whole area of the oil and gas discovery is divided into two areas coming under the jurisdiction of both the federal and state governments.“The whole area is situated in Malaysia. It does not involve the waters of Indonesia or Singapore, and therefore the issue of ownership does not arise. It is ours,” the sources said. The discovery is believed to have been made following a comprehensive geological study undertaken by Petronas on the coastal areas where the oil and gas reserves were.“Johor would make gains from the discovery, and among them would be the payment of royalties, as well as other ensuing economic benefits such as the establishment of oil and gas based industries and employment for the local people,” the sources said.Prices of land in the affected areas are also expected to go up significantly following the discovery.
SINGAPORE BECOMING AN OIL PRODUCING COUNTRY? mind boggling isn’t it? considering the proximity of Johor and Singapore, can’t rule out the possibility. I can think of a name for the new singapore oil company…
PAP Oil Limited, PAP stands for pump and pump muahahaha!!!
Brudders all, please load up on SRC (spore refining company) shares.
Don’t tell people you hear it from burung pipit!
